Augmented Reality Gathering Steam: Good News for AR Porn

Apple pushes manufacturer to produce lenses for augmented reality smart glasses, giving real credence to the AR expansion.

According to a report from Bloomberg News, Apple owned manufacturer Quanta has secured a contract to begin production of it’s highly sought-after lens technology for AR smart glasses. This is exciting news for AR and technology buffs alike, because it could be a signal that Apple may be paving the way for new wearable augmented reality tech to hit the market next year.

At the tail end of 2016, Quanta had invested $45 million USD into Lumus, an Israel based maker of AR lenses, and now the companies have agreed a licensing deal that could drastically reduce component pricing and push wearable AR technology to the market sooner than expected.

Ari Grobman, CEO at Lumus knows this could be a big step for the future technology stating, “Quanta has suggested that full AR headsets would be priced for less than the cost of a high-end cell phone. That’s a big deal.”

With technology prices of AR technology still a hurdle to jump before products truly hit the mainstream markets, this is a big step. Augmented reality is going to be the next big thing after virtual reality and the two technologies will coincide with each other to round out the wearables market. AR will offer industry a lot of creative options, especially from design and manufacturing angles. It is also going to cause another revolution in the gaming and pornography industries. Like Pokémon: GO showed us, gamers are fully into the idea of augmented reality in their gaming, and once proper wearables hit the shelves, the snowball will begin to grow. The same goes for the porn industry, which has been undergoing an expansion into the world of virtual reality porn.

“VR porn has been bringing viewers into a scene and immersing them with their favorite porn stars for a realistic porn experience. The demand is right up there with MILF porn from five years ago. I can only imagine that AR porn will have the same, if not greater effect.” That was Mike Hartman from VR Smash speaking about the evolution of VR and AR porn.

Anyone who has experienced VR porn knows that it’s a big step up from conventional 2D porn. There is no disconnect between the viewer and the scene, through a computer, mobile device or TV screen, and all the hot action is right there to “almost” touch. Looking forwards, augmented reality porn will have much the same effect, but with the capability to bring porn to you. Instead of “studio scenes”, the likes of Dillon Harper or Romi Rain will come visit you, in your bedroom, on the couch or wherever. Your body could even end up playing a role in a scene, but that aspect hasn’t been fully worked out yet. The possibilities are endless and the experience could end up being even more erotic than virtual reality. Factor in the teledildonics explosion and the experience could become almost too real.

So will we be seeing people on “AR dates” at restaurants with wearable AR tech on their faces? Probably not in the near future, but in terms of sex or porn, it won’t be long before VR and AR porn are nipping at the heels of the real thing.
